"Freedom isn't Free" is inspired by the experiences of Japanese Americans who were sent to Internment camps during World War II. This solo part of Freedom isn’t Free expresses the moment when a Japanese American woman is about to be sent to an internment camp during World War II, and then she appears 70 years after the war and reflects on the biased reactions that are still happening now, and can happen to anyone.

Sekai no Katachi –The shape of the World (Work in progress)
Sekai no Katachi –The shape of the World (Work in progress)

Photoshooting by Chris Fiore

"Sekai no Katachi – The Shape of the World" is a solo dance piece inspired by Ms. Ikeda's daily experiences as they interact and conflict with news she is reading from around the world. People are desperately fleeing North Africa, the Middle East, Afghanistan, and creating a refugee crisis in Europe, but in Times Square the focus is on protesting to obtain the right of gender equal nipples. Ms. Ikeda thought about this world that contains contradictions, and she wondered ay the idea of how people decided which matter is most important for them to raise their voices. Yet this same world embraces these differing and conflicting beliefs and values and is still united and spinning around the sun.

Cloud Passage
Cloud Passage

Photoshooting by Whitney Browne

After having the experience of moving from Japan back to the U.S., Ms. Ikeda wondered where and how her new life was to be built. This dance is about feeling unknown fear and confusion yet also being aware that life can expand wherever one goes, if one remains open to being alive.
between
"between" is a duet that captures the moment of friendship. Friends come and go in our lives. Some of them remain and some don't, but we are still sharing the moment of "now".

as it is
This solo, "as it is" is about finding the truth from so many overwhelming Internet resources. Since we have the internet, all resources and information from all over the world become easier to access than ever, but it occurs as an over flood of information within which sometimes the truth can be lost.

This solo was inspired by Ms. Ikeda's friend's death. What is death? Where does a person's sprit and memory go? Does death mean the end of the relationship or can we still keep and build our relationship?
